Ingredients
Ingredients:
- 6 Oranges
- 4 Lemons
- 1- inch piece Fresh Ginger Root
- 1- inch piece Fresh Turmeric Root
- 1 tablespoon Black Pepper
- 3 tablespoons Bee Pollen
- ¼ cup Manuka or Raw Honey
- 1.5 cups Coconut Water or Filtered Water
- Glass Shot Bottles for storage
Instructions
Prepare the Citrus Fruits:
- Wash the 6 oranges and 4 lemons thoroughly under running water.
- Using a sharp knife, carefully peel the oranges and lemons, removing the outer peel while leaving as much of the white pith as possible, as it contains beneficial nutrients.
Tip: Save the citrus peels for other uses, such as adding them to a simmer pot to freshen your home or infusing them in vinegar to make a natural household cleaner.
Prepare the Roots:
- Peel the 1-inch fresh ginger root and 1-inch fresh turmeric root.
- Chop them into smaller pieces for easier blending. (Wear gloves when handling turmeric to prevent staining.)
Blend Ingredients:
In a Vitamix blender or other high-powered blender, add:
- The peeled oranges and lemons, cut into quarters to fit in the blender.
- Chopped ginger and turmeric.
- ¼ cup Manuka or raw honey.
- 1.5 cups coconut water or filtered water.
- 3 tablespoons bee pollen.
- 1 tablespoon black pepper.
Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth.
Strain the Mixture:
- Place a fine mesh strainer or nut milk bag over a large bowl or pitcher.
- Pour the blended mixture through the strainer to remove any pulp and solid pieces.
- Use a spoon or spatula to press the liquid through, extracting as much juice as possible.
Bottle the Shots:
- Using a funnel, pour the strained liquid into glass shot bottles or small jars.
- Seal the bottles tightly with lids.
Store and Serve:
- Refrigerate the shots for at least 30 minutes before consuming to allow flavors to meld and to chill.
- Shake well before each use.
- Consume 1 shot (about 2 ounces) daily, preferably in the morning.
