Ingredients:

1 iceberg lettuce head, washed and dried

4 vegan American cheese slices

1/2 cup grilled onions
-
4 dill pickle slices
-
4 tomato slices
-
Spread (e.g. Thousand Island dressing or special sauce)

1/4 cup hot banana peppers, chopped

Shoe string French fries
For Protein Style:

Cut the lettuce head into four large circles to use as your bun.

Place a slice of vegan cheese on top of each lettuce circle.

Add a spoonful of grilled onions on top of the cheese.

Top with a pickle slice and tomato slice.

Add a dollop of spread (e.g. Thousand Island dressing or special sauce) on top.

Sprinkle with chopped hot banana peppers.

Serve with a side of shoe string French fries.
For Animal Style:

Follow the same steps as for protein style, but also add a spoonful of grilled onions between each lettuce layer.

Grill the lettuce “buns” on a hot skillet until slightly charred and wilted.

Add an additional spoonful of spread on top of the grilled lettuce buns before serving.

Serve with a side of shoe string French fries.
