Homemade Dog Food with Chicken and Turmeric Ginger Rice

Ingredients:

  • 1 iceberg lettuce head, washed and dried

  • 4 vegan American cheese slices

  • 1/2 cup grilled onions

  • 4 dill pickle slices

  • 4 tomato slices

  • Spread (e.g. Thousand Island dressing or special sauce)

  • 1/4 cup hot banana peppers, chopped

  • Shoe string French fries

For Protein Style:

  1. Cut the lettuce head into four large circles to use as your bun.

  2. Place a slice of vegan cheese on top of each lettuce circle.

  3. Add a spoonful of grilled onions on top of the cheese.

  4. Top with a pickle slice and tomato slice.

  5. Add a dollop of spread (e.g. Thousand Island dressing or special sauce) on top.

  6. Sprinkle with chopped hot banana peppers.

  7. Serve with a side of shoe string French fries.

For Animal Style:

  1. Follow the same steps as for protein style, but also add a spoonful of grilled onions between each lettuce layer.

  2. Grill the lettuce “buns” on a hot skillet until slightly charred and wilted.

  3. Add an additional spoonful of spread on top of the grilled lettuce buns before serving.

  4. Serve with a side of shoe string French fries.
